We are really pleased to share that the De’ud Bewley Charity Cup is now officially underway.
The draw has been made, and players are now finding out who they’ll be going head-to-head with. We wish everyone taking part the very best of luck and we’re looking forward to following the competition as it unfolds!
This event has grown into something really special, and that’s very much down to Ian and Kylie. Ian first brought the idea to us through his passion for backgammon and his wish to do something meaningful through the community he loves. Since then, both he and Kylie have given so much of their time, energy and care to make it happen and we are incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done. Their commitment behind the scenes has made a real difference.
We’ve also been amazed by the backgammon community. What started as one idea has turned into something that now brings people together from across the UK and beyond, all playing with generosity and kindness at its heart. Together, they have already raised thousands of pounds to support Stepping Stones and the children and families we work with.
For us, this support makes a real difference. As a small local charity, we provide free specialist early years support for children with additional needs across West Wiltshire. Every pound raised helps us continue offering tailored sessions, outreach in nurseries, family support, and early intervention which is all completely free for families.
Making the draw today was Dowie, who used to attend Stepping Stones. We were so pleased to see him and to hear all about what he’s been doing and his plans for the future. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of the long-term difference early support can make.
We are so grateful to everyone involved Ian, Kylie, the players, the sponsors, and the whole backgammon community. The De’ud Bewley Charity Cup is a brilliant example of people coming together to make a real difference.
