This July, our amazing trustee Tim is taking on a challenge of a lifetime – travelling 100 miles across the South Downs Way by off-road mobility scooter to raise funds for three charities close to his heart.
Diagnosed in 2024 with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare and progressive neurological condition, Tim decided to turn his bucket-list dream of completing a long-distance trek into a powerful fundraising effort. From Saturday 5th to Sunday 13th July, Tim – joined by his sister Rachel and other family and friends – will journey from Winchester to Eastbourne on his Tramper mobility scooter.
Tim and his family have already begun training for the trip, getting used to the terrain and putting the Tramper through its paces ahead of the real thing!
He’s raising money for:
Stepping Stones Trowbridge – which supported Tim’s family when his children were younger, and where he now serves as a dedicated trustee.
Designability – where Tim spent many years designing technology to empower people and teaching engineering and design students how to solve complex problems related to disability.
MSA Trust – which is currently supporting Tim and his family as they navigate life with MSA.
Tim’s career has been dedicated to supporting disabled people through innovation and engineering. Now, he’s drawing on that same spirit of determination to take on this incredible challenge.
