We’re absolutely delighted to share some incredible news: Stepping Stones Trowbridge has achieved its fifth consecutive Outstanding rating from Ofsted! This recognition is a testament to the passion, dedication and care we pour into everything we do for children with additional needs and their families across West Wiltshire — including Trowbridge, Melksham, Bradford on Avon, Westbury, Warminster, and surrounding villages.
What Ofsted Said
On Thursday 18th September 2025, we welcomed an Ofsted Inspector to our setting. Their verdict? “Outstanding” in every single area.
In their report, they wrote:
“Children radiate joy, giggling with delight as they engage with staff,” and “Thrive under the attentive care of knowledgeable staff who have a deep understanding of their needs, interests and developmental journey.”
They praised our ambitious, expertly crafted curriculum, and highlighted the enthusiasm, passion and unwavering commitment of our team — a team that celebrates every child’s uniqueness and every milestone.
We were especially touched by the feedback from parents, many of whom said they felt “listened to, empowered and no longer alone in navigating their child’s needs.” That’s exactly the kind of impact we strive for every day.
A Message from Our Management Committee
“On behalf of the Management Committee, we are proud to share that Stepping Stones has achieved an Outstanding rating in all areas following our recent Ofsted inspection. This is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work, passion and dedication shown by our team. Thank you to all who make our setting so special.”
Who We Are
Founded in 1974, Stepping Stones Trowbridge is a registered charity and the District Specialist Centre for West Wiltshire. We provide specialist early years education and family support for children aged 0 to 4 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We work closely with parents, nurseries, schools and health professionals to offer tailored support, outreach, and workshops that promote inclusion across our community. Children attend specialist sessions at the Longfield Children’s Centre in Trowbridge, and families can also join our Stay and Play sessions and access practical advice.
Celebrating 50 Years
This Outstanding result is especially meaningful as we celebrate our 50th anniversary, a golden milestone that marks half a century of care, inclusion, and joy.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to the next chapter together.
