We were recently contacted by a family whose daughter attended Stepping Stones a 'few' years ago! You can read her story below.
It made us think how wonderful it would be to hear from more of you and how inspiring your stories might be for the families of children currently attending Stepping Stones. If you would be happy to share your story please contact us via email or facebook with a recent photo. If you would prefer not to share but would like to contact us anyway and let us know what's happening with you that would be great too.
These pictures of Tabina were taken last year as she was heading off for her school Prom.
Yes, that stroppy young girl is all now grown up and turned 17 at the start of the month ????
She has managed to get through mainstream school without an EHCP - shockingly we were unable to get her one! She did reasonably well with her GCSES and had lots of extra support including extra time, rest breaks, a scribe, practical assistant and sitting them 1-1 in a quiet room BUT she did it ????
This year she has completed a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Management at Hartpury College with a predicted Distinction - Aug will tell.
Hopefully from Sept she will be starting the Level 3 Course.
She completed a week's work experience at her Secondary School over at Hope Nature Centre in Trowbridge staying with Grandparents for the week. This year she completed 2 weeks at our Local City Farm.
She does still struggle but gives most things a go and we will always make her have a go before stepping in to help if needed. The mobility scooter is amazing ( we purchased this with her DLA/PIP money) as it gives her that extra independence instead of constantly being pushed in the wheelchair when she is tired.
Stepping Stones is registered with Ofsted and received a rating of Outstanding from our most recent inspection in 2020...
