Useful Information for Parents & Carers 

There is a wide range of help available to support children who have additional needs and their parent/carers. Here are a few links we feel may be of use to you:

Disability Living Allowance (DLA): This is a benefit you may be able to claim to help in meeting the additional costs of your child regularly attending therapy and needing additional care and support. Forms can be downloaded via the attached link. Debbie also keeps a few forms in the office if you do not have access to a printer.

Carers Allowance: If your child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance you may be able to claim this benefit.

Wiltshire Local Offer: The Wiltshire Local Offer provides information and guidance on services for children and young people, aged 0-25, with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). This website contains information about education, health, social care, preparing for adulthood and leisure. It is also your opportunity to provide feedback and help shape the future services.

Wiltshire Parent Carer CouncilWiltshire Parent Carer Council: Here you’ll discover a wealth of information about special educational needs, benefits & money, social care services, schools & learning, legal matters and more, as well as how to apply for the Short Breaks Scheme, which is funded by Wiltshire Council.

Jacob's Ladder: Jacob's Ladder is a not-for-profit community organisation that supports children and young adults with special needs. Our aim is to run fun and stimulating projects for children and young people aged 2-19 in a safe and understanding environment.


Wiltshire Independent Support and Advice (WISA): WISA is Wiltshire's Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS) run by Action for Children to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across the county.

Family Fund: This fund exists to help families caring for a child with additional needs, under the age of 16. Help can be given to families where household income is under £23,000 gross p/a. Grants are given for many different things but must be related to the care of your child.

Contact a Family: Contact a Family - a charity for families of disabled children. Contact a Family is a national charity that exists to support the families of disabled children whatever the condition or disability.
