Many of you have already signed up to take part in this years George's Marvellous Bike Ride (GMBR) but there's still plenty of time for those of you thinking about riding in GMBR to sign up.
So whether you're already joining us or are considering doing so, here are some of the details you need:
The ride is on Sunday 2nd September starting and finishing in Bradford on Avon (BoA). It will begin at the The Boathouse pub, Bradford on Avon Marina, Widbrook, BoA, BA15 1UD. Registration will open at 0900, please be there by 0930 at the latest, and the ride will start at 1000.
The ride is along the Kennet and Avon Canal and, depending on how far you want to cycle, then on through the historic Two Tunnels and into the beautiful city of Bath. The ride is a loop and there are options for riders of all abilities with distances between 11 miles up to nearly 62 for the more ambitious who wish to do the loop multiple times.
11 miles (17.5km) - the Dundas Dash (mostly traffic free and on the towpath)
23.5 miles (38km) - the Two Tunnels Hero ride
36 miles (58km) - the Two Tunnels Legend ride
49 miles (79km) - the Two Tunnels Superstar ride
61.5 miles (99km) - the Two Tunnels Warrior ride
The route will be marshalled, well marked and is a mix of tow path (gravel/dirt track) and tarmac road
At the end of the ride if you wish to, you can join everyone back at The Boathouse where you will be able to buy food and drink and swap stories of the fun you had taking part in GMBR.
This year GMBR is raising very much needed funding for two charities - Stepping Stones and Scope:
Stepping Stones is a District Specialist Centre for children who have Special Needs. Children come to Stepping Stones from the entire West Wiltshire area and it provides practical information and support to the children and their families. Stepping Stones have to rely on the very generous support of the local community in order to keep the group running.
Scope is the charity that aims to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else and needs your support to help achieve this.
Whilst there is no registration fee or charge to take part in GMBR, we do ask each rider to try and raise sponsorship if possible. Alternatively you are very welcome to simply make a donation and then ride.
You can download a sponsorship form here so that you can collect sponsorship money from friends, family and colleagues.
People can also donate online via: www.localgiving.com/georg
